I mentioned in my previous post that while I very much want to share my stories with a wider audience, I am having difficulty settling on a medium. Insofar as writing goes (and that's probably my strongest suit, as I stand), novel or short story seems the most obvious choice, but something about that form fails to inspire. Because what I want does not appear to exist, nor can I commission it to be written by anyone else. But my words are so awkward,  so clumsy, and they come at such a cost in time and energy. So instead of continuing to work on all the stuff I am supposed to be working on, I just went and edited Her First Friend, because parts of it have been bothering me. I think I like it better now, but will have to come back to it in a week or so before I know for sure (I kept the old draft just in case). 

I want to express my characters through writing, and I can't . . . I have no plots. I guess my characters have no stories. Does that make them bad, boring, pointless? It is all very awesome in my head, but I fear I shall never be able to show them to anyone.

It is a play I have wanted to write since 11th grade, starring --- surprise surprise --- Hamlet and Horatio, at Wittenberg.* My interpretations of both characters are unique, nuanced, and ought to be both psychologically and historically engaging. Ok. Got that part.

Only one problem: plot.

I am best at writing.
Also, I am no good at producing writing, and don't see why I should bother.
And yet.

People who produce quality long fiction impress me. Impress, yes, but not necessarily amaze --- because it's something I  shouldcouldwould be able to do myself. Except for the part where I can't, and yet.
