Prompt: Revolution

Feb 08, 2008 09:46

This one is based on my Sailor Moon fanfiction, which I'm currently renovating. While I had the entire first story arc planned out, I've only written the first 2 chapters. This scene I've had in my head for a while. The reason why the prompt 'Revolution' made me think of this is because one of the songs that goes with my fanfic is 'Revolution Song' by Fefe Dobson.

Warning if you want to read my fanfic in the future, this contains spoilers.

Her head throbbed in a way Karei had never felt before. It was like her skull was being split open, or perhaps she'd bashed it against a cement wall really really really hard? Whatever it was, it hurt like crazy.

Opening one eye, the redhead tried to get a sense of where she was. Karei was glad that it was dark in the room, she wasn't sure if the light would make the pain in her head feel worse or feel better - best not to risk it. Slowly she tried to pick herself up off the floor. It took a great deal of effort as all her muscles screamed out in pain.

What the hell happened?

Getting to her feet she managed to get a better picture of where she was. It was a dark room, everything dressed in black or grays. Most definitely a bedroom of sorts, as there was a large be with a puffy looking, gray satin comforter on top. Karei couldn't help muse that whoever lived in this room had a really gloomy sense of style.

There was a what looked to be a window in the corner. She couldn't see outside quite well, because the darkly lacquered shuttered were closed. Wandering over to them, Karei popped the lock and pushed them wide opened. The first thing Karei noticed was a flare up of her fear of heights - she must have been 50 stories above the ground!!

Gulping her fear down best she could, Karei scanned the horizon to get a better baring of where she was - there was a large village down below that stretched as far as she could see. The bizarre thing was that there was nobody in the streets, no activity... was it abandoned? The sky was a dark sapphire blue, it must have been evening. There was a full moon hanging brightly with the stars twinkling around it.

And then Karei faltered... was that Earth? Next to the Moon was Earth. It was darkened, but Karei could see millions of twinkling lights on it. Where am I!?

"Beautiful isn't it?" A deep voice suddenly whispered in her ear, making Karei jump in fright. She turned around quickly to see a tall man with raven hair and deep crimson eyes. Then it all came back to her.. it was Ionite.

"Send me back, now!" Karei demanded, remembering the attempts to flood her with negative energy to manipulate her, to get her to join their cause. That's why her head hurt so much.

Ionite scowled, not the an answer he wanted. He grabbed her shoulders firmly and slammed her against the wall with force. "No, you're going to be my empress and rule this land, the Moon, the Universe by my side!"

Karei brought her knee up, intending to knee him in the groin, but he was faster than she and managed to grab the knee before it colided. "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me," He said with a smirk as he slammed her leg away before reasserting his grip on her shoulder.

"Astria Silver Power!" Karei yelled out, hoping to transform so she could escape from him and this place.

Nothing happened.

Ionite simply laughed as he reached into his pocket and produced Karei's transformation brooch. "Looking for this? Sorry.. No transformations today.." He tossed the brooch over his shoulder, and it smashed apart as it hit the ground. "And now there's nothing you can do.. you will reign next to me."

Her eyes started to tear up. This couldn't be how it ended, was it? No. It wasn't. Her friends would come for her, she had faith in them. Thinking of them renewed her faith in herself. My friends won't give up on me, I shouldn't give up on myself...

"I will never be your empress, or rule with you, or whatever sick thing you have in mind," Karei replied, the defiance and determination in her voice returning. "Astria Silver Power!"

A bright light suddenly consumed Karei, forcing Ionite to release her. It was so strong that he had to back away and shield his eyes.

"You didn't really think that out power was contained in a piece of jewelery, did you?"

Ionite looked up at the voice: the light had died down, and where Karei stood now stood Sailor Astria.
