Excited that Matt has a 4 day weekend this weekend, starting tomorrow. He's been working so many long days, so I know he'll be excited to sleep in a little. The shower went wonderful. My sister and my mom worked so hard to put together something gorgeous, and we really had a wonderful time. The weather turned out not so bad, which was great. Friday night, we missed our effing flight, and I mean we RAN through the entire airport. They did construction and changed security in Nashville, so it took us a ridiculous amount of time to park, get to the terminal, go through security and everything, and even with his military ID they wouldn't let him ahead because he wasn't in uniform. I was pissed. I was also hurting big time from running, I thought I was going to cry when we reached the counter. So our nonstop flight turned into a flight to St. Louis, then Philadelphia, and the 4 hours was really hellish. At least we got there though. My mom looks really great, and I'm glad. We got some good and bad news back from her scan. Looks like down in the area in question, there's no more cancer, which is spectacular. But now they're concerned about something suspicious near her lungs which they've been keeping an eye on, but hasn't dissipated. On the 21st, she goes for a test, which is like a biopsy, to see what's going on. Hoping for the best. We sent flowers today because it's good to know that the cancer they were certain of is GONE and that's a huge step. We really need to celebrate that.
This weekend will be a lot of working for us both. We've got to put the furniture back in the office and put the chair rail up tonight I think. We're also going to get the paint for the downstairs so we can paint tomorrow and Matt can try and get as much of the floor down there as he can by Monday. I'll be putting together the glider, ottoman, travel system, and high chair while he's working on the floors. Jen and Ray and my parents got us a lot of the big stuff we needed, and I am so excited. We'll also be taking a trip to Babies R Us to get some of the other big things because they're having a big sale, we've got coupons for almost all of it for 20% or more, and we've got all the gift cards from the shower. Next week, we take the car in for a recall we got and an oil change, so after we can clean it and install the car seat. And I'll be washing all her clothes, putting the dresser together, and packing my bag for the hospital to have it ready in case. I want to have most of the things ready in the next two weeks in case, god forbid, she comes early. Tonight we have our childbirth class at the hospital at 6, and my breastfeeding class is on the 28th. I am nervous about the childbirth class, but we'll be together, and I think I'll make it. I want to spend the last few weeks reading more on what I can without getting freaked out. The plan is to go completely natural unless a medical intervention is necessary. I am hoping that I am strong enough to do it. I don't really have the highest threshold for pain, so I'm not saying I'll out refuse an epidural if I get there and the pain is unbearable, but I want to try my damnedest to do it on my own. Matt is on board really to help, so we're going to formulate a loose birth plan and try to work on it together. It's all ticking down and I feel like there's SO much to do to get ready before she comes, but I am happy we're making progress. Matt actually wants to do TOO much I think, so I'm trying to slow him down some. I'm hoping this weekend's big project will help keep him satisfied, because as of right now, he wants to put new flooring in the living room and hallway now too, plus paint the living room (we have like 20 foot ceilings in there, so much work!), and for the love of the God, the man keeps looking at do it yourself fencing for the yard, and it's not happening, haha. I'll be happy if the original plans we had get finished and we're ready for her a few weeks early, so we can clean the house even more and focus on the birth. If I can get him to stop watching HGTV or DIY network, I might have a chance.
Okay lots to do and it's already 11. Got to get myself moving! Got to find some coffee I think...
