How LJ how I've neglected thee.... seriously, I haven't checked my flist in over 2 weeks.
Just a brief updatey thing. Real life is taking preference right now, but things to look out for on here are:

mindtherift♥ More Cardiff photo spams
♥ And finally, I might actually make and post some icons again O.O
♥♥ Job is going super well. I like it lots. It's never going to be mad fun because most jobs aren't, but I enjoy it as much as I can. The work is mostly easy and the pay is good, I only wish I was on 5 days instead of 3 just to be able to get more money but the experience I'm getting here means I hopefully won't go through the job search drama I went through over the last 2 years. I'm going to start looking for another contract in June/July for September and hopefully with my experience I'm gaining here, I'll be able to land one easier.
The saying is "It's easier to find work when your working" after all.
I've been working my first 2 weeks putting together the companies quarterly journal (the cover will have BABY HORSES on it!!!!!). The journal is 3 weeks behind schedule due to lack in staff (before I joined of course) so the last week has been spent madly trying to get it all done so it can be printed.
I got the first round of edits on Thursday and one of them was to add my name under the 'Design and Desktop Publishing' heading.
Just holy crap O.O
It's a first in my 'career' that this has happened. It was bit of a moment.
I really didn't do much in the way of 'design', but my future employers don't have to know the whole truth.
This job is doing wonders for my portfolio. :D
I could see myself doing this job happily for months.
The location is good (it's not the city!!!) I'm gaining great experience, I'm never bored, the people are nice, the job is easy and 'fun', the CEO has a puppy that he brings to the office :3 and the air con is always on nice and cool (I can wear a cardigan when it's 30 degrees outside)
I'm just sad that it will end eventually in July. Now I may be jumping the space shark slightly here, I may hate it in a month or 2, but right now, I like it.... as far as work goes.
Getting my first pay check next Wednesday, which I'm going to spend all of to get the 'OMFG I HAVE MONEY AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!' out of my system... then start saving 80% of each pay check as I get them from then on.
♥♥ Travel plans for the year.
I've more a less decided and put my foot down (re. see Supanova post)
Basically I was thinking at one stage of going to all 3 interstate Supanova cons this year, but I took a hard look and did some airline price searching and came to the conclusion that I can only afford 1 interstate con this year if I want to stand any chance of making it to the UK at the end of the year.
So, travel for this year is.
Melbourne Supanova: April 8th-10th
Simon Pegg and Nick Frost have won out over Colin Baker (whom I've already met) and plus Melbourne is awesome. I've only been to Melbourne once, back in 2007, and I'm looking forward to going back, even briefly. Also going to make Ianto bear a Shaun of the Dead cosplay (because he's a light coloured bear) especially for the con. Excited :D
Alice Springs: July 9th-15th (roughly)
Now this is with work, meaning all expenses paid but working my butt off in exchange, but I'm going to try and organise a trip out to see Uluru (that I'll pay for of course) while I'm there.
I'm going to see if it's possible to fly out a day earlier (or later) so I can go see it.
UK: Late October to Late December/early January
The thing I'm working all my efforts for. I want to go back, so much. Dates are up in the air for many many reasons, but I want it to happen so much.
I wanted originally to stay through to Feb and come back to Australia through the Gallifrey 23 convention in LA but my mum turns 60 of January 1st 2012... so I'm going to have to come home for that.
I mean I love my mum, but it's really bad timing for what I want to do. Going to try to do a mini American holiday in February 2012 starting off at Gallifrey, but who knows if that'll happen.
♥♥ Mardi Gra was amasing... expect a seprate post on that soon.
And that's all I can think of that I wanted to mention in this post. I have my first 4 days off from work where I'm not going out which is good, because I have lots to catch up on at home and online.
Now off I go to watch Being Human... I only have 7 episodes to watch before Monday.
Laters.
