Nadolig Llawen 10

Dec 21, 2010 00:59

What a year it's been.

This year has very much been a major fork in the road for me... a true turning point.
I left my country and home behind for the first time in my life and tried to make it on my own for a period of 6 months, and even through it really didn't work out the way I imagined it would, I wouldn't change my experiences this year for anything.
The good and the bad.
It has left me a little lost and confused however, going through a possible early mid life crisis... but I'll get through it eventually. Life keeps marching on.

So... Christmas :D

Time for my annual christmas post 'Nadolig Llawen' (which means 'Merry Christmas' in Welsh for anyone unsure)
This year I've opted for taking photos of my Christmas tree and my various figures, plushies and bears.

Really got into Christmas this year, brought myself my own Christmas tree (still have the family one in the living room) because my mum has developed a habit over the last few years of decorating the tree by herself when we are all out of the house :C
Tis not a habit I'm all that pleased with... but I can't get her to change it, so I got my own tree this year.

My own mini tree.
It was cheap and small, but all I can really fit in my room. Has red flashing fibre optic lights that didn't show up in the photo. Also haven't found a tree topper small enough yet, so I borrowed mini!Myfanwy's hat for it

I also got another little tree (this one a USB tree my parents brought me for my birthday)

Powered by an external hard drive under neath my desk, hence the lack of ugly wires, held in place by the power of blu tack... truly one of the best inventions ever :D
It changes colour and is really pretty, but my camera fails at taking photos of coloured lights.

Also, partly inspired by many of my UK friends buying advent calenders for themselves, I decided to delve back into my childhood and recapture my christmas joy (which has been some what lacking these past few years)

My advent calender. Thomas the Tank Engine :D
Really would of loved a Doctor Who one, but alas... yet again Australia sucks *adds tag*
I sent out Christmas cards this year to my friends in the UK and the US too.
First year I've ever done cards all proper like too (like the whole mailing them thing)
So to everyone one my friends that I sent a card too... hope you all got them and hope you like them.
This will be a yearly thing from now on :D

My christmas display with my cards (both birthday and christmas cards up there)
I've only got a few cards so far but I don't mind...

Here's the inside of one I got from my friend Chloe from Liverpool.

If only... I miss everyone in the UK so much it hurts sometimes.

Now on to silly Christmas fun with action figures, plushies and bears!

My Christmas tradition, 3rd year running, Bob the Superb Dalek, in his christmas outfit.
He has a new hat this year and a new badge too... and this is possibly his best photo yet :D

Next up mini!Myfanwy *adds tag*

She looks like she's got such a 'squee' face here xD
Christmas tree!!! So Shiny!!!

mini!Myfanwy giving mini!Ianto and mini!Jack a ride.... I couldn't resist

Now, taking a page out of mercury-pheonix's book.

Torturing Jack with my brand new (of a few weeks) mini!Eleven

Aww... it's ok now... threesome tiem!

OLIVER!!

His first christmas was last year but I never took any photos of it (such a bad mum I am)
Here's to make up for it... also due to lacking on festive hats, Oliver has borrowed mini!Myfanwy's hat as well.

Yet speaking of first christmas' it is the first year I've had my bears. So......

Left to right: Jack bear, Ianto bear and Eleven bear
They still don't have their proper outfits yet, but I did buy Eleven bear's bowtie 1 month ago, and Ianto bear finally got some shoes and socks for Christmas. I also found an old pair of pin stripe trousers I can cut up, so I should be making his suit soon. Jack bear still doesn't own any trousers yet... so what's new. ;D

I borrowed my cat's christmas hats for this (because my mum loves to partake in the annual torturing of my poor kitty by buying these things and taking photos) because they were perfect bear size ^_^

And that's the end of my christmas madness for this year.
Hoping to finish my christmas shopping tomorrow and start baking the rest of the presents this week.

Now, I have to have a little family related drama llama rant here, so feel free to skip the italic section.

*begin rant*
This year I'm doing the usual with the extended family on Christmas Day... expect this year, my cousin who I stayed with in London for a while in June is coming home for it.
I hope things aren't awkward, because needless to say, shit happened in London. -_-
I only hope the family don't ignore me (like they seem to have been doing a great job of since I got back... they have barely talked to me, asked me about my trip, my life, nothing, forgot my birthday too, makes me feel so loved)
So if they do ignore me and are angry with me for whatever reason then fuck them!
Shit happens, I fucked up, I couldn't get myself a job (which is so easy for my cousin because she's so perfect obviously!) but at the same time I was homeless and screwed up and trying my absolute fucking hardest to get a job with no relevant working experience in a huge foreign city going through a recession... and seriously, if my extended family hate me for any mistakes I made during the hardest period in my life to date, then seriously, fuck them.
*/end rant*

Next year I hope to be in the UK for christmas, but I'm not sure if that'll happen because a lot can happen in a year, and money might not happen (plus my mum is turning 60 on Jan 1st 2012, so my family might not let me go) so wish me luck.
I want to experience a white christmas at least once in my life (or at least a christmas that is cold and not fucking hot and during my least favourite season of the year: summer)
It's my goal for next year... to at least get back to the UK once (but hopefully twice)

Lastly... new Doctor Who in 5 days!!!! Well, 6 days for me.
So excited.
Also for some reason, I've been avoiding spoilers (or haven't stumbled across any) I barely know anything about this years christmas special other than a few tiny little details so I'm even more excited due to the fact that it's all mostly going to be a surprise.
Soooooo unlike End of Time last year, which was so depressing for a christmas special and I knew everything that was going to happen it in, and what I didn't know I guessed because RTD got so predicable at the end.

Bring on 'A Christmas Carol' :D FUCK YEAH!
Let's see how Moffat does a christmas special!

So signing off, I leave you with Matt, Karen and Arthur (WHO IS PLAYING THE PIANO AND WEARING A FUCKING ADORABLE HAT!!!!!! OMG I CAN'T EVEN!!!!) singing christmas carols.

I hope you have a fantastic christmas and a bitchin new years.
