After some consideration, years yutzing around about it, and some things finally coming together in a serendipitous way, I've decided to focus very intently on getting myself into a position where I can freelance full time. I've always wanted to write full time, but I've focused pretty exclusively on fiction. Now it's more of a two-prong plan...
I already have an editing gig and a web content writing gig. The way the latter came about felt like a big smack on the back of the head from the universe (she is not subtle with me, no she is not), and I started really thinking about how I could set up a steady income stream to counterbalance the naturally not-so-steady stream that comes from fiction writing. So I started buckling down, and this week landed a second content/article writing client. And the quest continues...
Tomorrow I'm headed to St. Louis to meet up with
way2busymom and her girls to see some kind of hockey game and then the Rock Band Live tour, with Plain White T's (meh), Dashboard Confessional (men), The Cab (yay!) and Panic at the Disco (YAY!). B scored us another set of meet and greet passes, because we're all cool like that, so we can mock Spencer's new pornstache in person. \o/
And next weekend my parents are in town, and
way2busymom and
just_katarin are flying in to see The Academy Is... And December 6th? Fall Out Boy. \0/
And see? This is why I need to go freelance. So I can go to all this stuff and not have to worry about my boss going uh, I know you took like three weeks of vacation last year and the year before and I didn't say anything about it but sorry you just hit ten days and for some reason I have a big stick up my ass about it and so now if you take more we'll have to talk about extra hours and making up the time even though you come in early half the time and don't take full lunch breaks and work when you're hacking up bits of lung or passing kidney stones and we don't actually like give you insurance benefits or anything but wow, let's act like we're some kind of big corporate employer anyway.
Oh. Ooops. Must still be bitter about that....
And in unrelated news, Get Well Soon wishes to Gale Harold, who apparently wrecked his motorcycle and smashed up his shoulder, and is still in critical condition with swelling on the brain. Gah. GET BETTER, DUDE!! And sympathies and hugs and stuff to Dave1. Still love ya, babe.
