I am two weeks in Shanghai and 2,5 in China. As I mentioned before, my workload is quite light.
So, I am teaching primary school students twice a week in the afternoons about ecology issues. On fridays I am going to have high-school classes. And also I want to help Hands on Shanghai project. In addition, I want to help Green power project (may organize some event) and CODE project (about social entrepreneurship). Btw, I start working only this week.
Therefore, I started to look for a part time job. First priority is aiesec projects on local or national level. Second, volunteer for NGO in the field of sustainable development or help children. Third, part-time job in arts or internet, because i am interesting in it also.
So last Friday I had an interview with some local company which selling bluetooth marketing software. It is one-year company with about 20 people. The director was late for about 15 minutes, so I just talked with sales manager. In china uni's canteens are very cheap, but you need a special card to buy food there. So, he bought a faked card via internet and have a lunch in uni near workplace =)
They sell a software. But there is another company called panco, and they create a bluetooth spots in crowded places and sell marketing compaigns through their spots. Btw, they had a big contract with coca-cola during the Olympic games. So, I think it is better way than just sell software.
At the interview we discussed my responsobilities. Now, company wants to establish new partnerships with international companies. They already had one with Nike. It is kind of business development + marketing. So, they offered me 6000 RMB per month and flexible hours. However, I decided to reject, because it requires to be focused on that activities. And I want to be focused on my volunteer project.
It is quite strange, but in china students have very limited spare times. They have a lot of classes and a lot of assignments. Also, they a really worry about their jobs during the whole last year in uni. The application process is quite long, and most of the companies have fixed time of their recruitment. The start salary in Big 4 is about 5,5000 RMB. It is less than in Moscow, but the life is cheaper here.
