This entry should totally be about how I went down to the Mall and witnessed history, or at least witnessed giant crowds who would be witnessing history later when I'd returned home to witness history on my TV from my nice, warm living room.
But I woke up late and hazy, still pretty tired from not having gotten a lot of sleep Sunday night,* and barely dragged myself into our living room for History, much less to the Mall. It was pretty exciting, but I was kinda mad at myself for not getting up early enough to look at the Obamamasses.
Then a couple of hours later, I was jumpy and unfocused and not doing a very good job keeping my mind on the work I was supposed to be doing.** A mug of strong Scottish breakfast tea backfired, making me less focused instead of more, and I was in that lovely annoying place where my body decided it was too tired to want food.
I'd planned on lifting on Monday, but that didn't happen. And today I was still feeling out of it enough that I didn't feel comfortable going and lifting very heavy things in my laundry room. I almost talked myself out of anything all together, but then I gave myself a mental kick in the ass, and told myself, "Pink, there is a blank spot on your calendar yesterday, don't leave a blank spot today, too. You're sore and you're cranky - just go run, okay? Get on your feet and move your legs until you get too tired to keep going. JUST DO IT."
So I did - in 15 degree windchill, with my metro card in my pocket in case I punked out halfway (which I fully expected to do). But instead of getting whiny and lazy and sore - I made it all the way to the Capitol building and back, steady as she goes, about four miles in 35 minutes of straight running!!!
Man. I am so proud of me!
*Up late, crashed at someone else's house, woke up early, started Sharing Life Stories instead of going back to sleep, breakfast, didn't take a nap when I went home, and then someone had a last-minute birthday celebration Monday night so there was continued not-napping. Sigh.
**Today I was technically supposed to work from home. Still working on that.
general yay,
