Oh man I have skills. After wrestling my old compy for an hour to load properly, not freeze, and run the transfer cable software, I turn to my lappy to discover that I have some how lost part of my cd/dvd rom program or software. When I put a disk in the drive it whirrs, the light blinks and then nothing. When I go into windows programs it tells

You should be able to get drivers from either Windows Update, the IBM support on your computer (does your laptop still have a blue "Access IBM" button?), or google the device. Also, try popping the CD player in and out... it may have shifted while being transported.
