Well, here we are at the Alberguinn in Barcelona! After a long day of transit yesterday (bus from galway to dublin, flight from dublin to BCN), we arrved safe and sound into our nice, comfy (air conditioned!!) hostel. After a late night snack (a damn good shwarma for 3.50...we hadn realized how expensive Ireland had actually been!), we tucked in for a well-deserved nightś rest. Today, we got up, had some breakfast, and set out, our itinerary generally unknown. After getting somewhat lost on the metro (thereś an L4 line and an R4 line...whoda thunk?), we made it to the Cathedral, had some AMAZING gelato on a medieval streetcorner, searched for Roman ruins, and wandered along Las Ramblas a few times. We went to the local food market, bought a few loaves of bread, some chorizo, and cheese, and had a fantastic (again, cheap!) picnic lunch. We walked along the Ramblas some more, wandered near la Barceloneta, and figured out a cheap and effective way to get to Paris, no insane prices or trips to Nice needed (and not much more time than originally thought, either.)
Weŕe about to grab some dinner and maybe a bit of Spanish cider (I´m into comparative taste-testing!), and thereś a line forming behind me, so I should sign off...but all is well, and weŕe having a FANTASTIC time!
