“Pardon,” Giles muttered for what seemed like the thousandth time. He hated California malls much preferring the shops in London, but with the destruction of the Council and his mad dash to try and rescue as many potentials as possible, there just hadn’t been time. He shook his head ruefully. Who are you kidding old man. You hadn’t even realized it was almost Christmas until you went with Buffy on patrol last night.
He sighed. His relationship with his Slayer had been strained since her second return from the dead. Hell, if he was honest, it was strained long before that. And he wasn’t sure how much more strain the relationship could take before it was irrevocably broken. That is what had driven him here, to the god forsaken mall. He still didn’t know what he was going to get Buffy for Christmas but one thing he did know was that it was going to be from the heart.
