“C’mon Giles. Please.” Buffy whined.
“Buffy, I’ve already agreed that you could take the day off. I fail to see ...”
She cut him off. “But Giles! You have to come!”
He sighed. “Buffy, you do recall that I’m British yes? And as such, don’t celebrate a holiday commemorating American Independence?”
“Oh get over it already. Sheesh. Besides there will be fireworks and music and food.”
“But Buffy, why is it so important that I come? Your friends will be with you, yes?”
She fidgeted and looked at the ground. She smiled when she looked back up at him. “Well, if I can convince the one stubborn one to go, then they all will be.”
His brow furrowed for a moment and Buffy wondered if she was going to have to spell it out for him. She knew he had worked it out when he flushed pink.
“Uh, what time did you say?”
“Six. And no tweed! Or ties. You do own casual clothes don’t you?”
“Tweed is quite versatile,” he teased.
“Giles!”
“Yes, alright. No tweed and err, no ties.”
“Yay! I win!” She sang as she exited the library.
“She is the strangest girl.”
