Prologue
He reaches out for the face that is leaning in to his. So close, so painfully close that he can feel the short, exhaled breaths on his face, puffing on his lips, his nose, his eyes like a sweet breeze, yet not close enough to touch.
There’s this nagging feeling of déjà vu that is tugging at his heart because he knows, he desperately knows that he has seen this person before, somewhere, definitely, but he just can’t remember where. Junsu is starting to panic a little at this foreign feeling of fear of the unknown and he racks his mind over and over and over again, trying hard to remember.
His fingertips brush slightly against the cool, hard surface of the mirror, begging, who are you?
He is replied with a smile that graces the curved lips of the other man and torments him with the silence.
Junsu extends his hand, now desperate, to touch, to feel, don’t leave, I need you now!
Adrenaline increases in his veins and he knows it’s going to happen again. The image of the other man is blurring and starting to disappear from his mind’s eye, diminishing in size but his smile stays embedded in his memories, where he knows it won’t be gone till the day he dies -
Junsu feels his eyes stirring beneath his eyelids.
No, don’t let me wake up, no, no -
Any moment now -
He makes a last futile attempt to hang on, to stay in the dreamlike world in the presence of that unknown man; the world twists, turns, his hands fumble helplessly, outstretched -
He regains consciousness. And hates himself for seeing the white, bleached plaster above his head.
Kim Junsu is forcefully returned to reality.
