Good doctors and nurses
It's National Medical Laboratory Professionals Week. Quite a mouthful, but I like how it covers every kind of lab worker, from phlebotomists to MLTs to Histotechs. My work has given us free muffins and hamburgers, and the CLS program has cups and buttons. It's really nice to be acknowledged for the work we do.
I had a problem with some orders on a specimen tonight, and I was able to talk to both the nurse and doctor. They were both very nice and helpful despite the nurse being very busy and the doctor being at home (and therefore difficult to reach). It makes me happy when I can work with other medical professionals and develop a mutual understanding and respect. Especially when it comes to solving problems. I know nurses are extremely busy and they often have a different perspective of the patient than I do in the lab, but ultimately we both want what is best for them.
So thank you, nurse J and Dr. M. You made my night a little bit brighter, and I'm glad I could help you to get the tests you needed for your patient.
