I didn't know who I was at 16. Now that I'm 20 I STILL don't know who I am. And I'm happy not knowing. Because that's what life is all about. Friends, Family and understanding who you are. And if you figure that out at 16, well, what else is there?
I don't think your parents meant that you can do EVERYTHING you want. But you can do anything you set your mind to. And don't tell me I'm wrong. Because you can. I know you can. You're just setting your mind on telling yourself that you CAN'T do anything you set your mind to. i think...

I have high expectations of myself as well, even though most people don't think I do. When I choose to do something, I finish it, or I feel really shitty. So I know what you're talking about. And I'm not going to ask you to change. Just, realize that your expectations are not always what is expected of you.
A drug is an escape. A way to be something or someone you're not. Maybe that helps you. Maybe it doesn't. But what it does is make you dependent on it. After too long using it, you come to rely on it to help you through certain situations when it can't. Don't rely on people to heavily either. They're very fickle and will change their minds often. They also leave. So be careful who you trust and who you befriend.
Just some advice.
