Ho hum

I'm working on the annual report. Still! yes! I know, trust me. I am more bored of it than you can possibly imagine, which is why I keep trailing off and finding more interesting things to do, but in a lazy way called "reading blogs".

Additionally, I'm getting more and more upset by the abortion bans going up in states around the country and the SCOTUS decision to allow harrassment of clinic visitors. So upset, I haven't actually read anything about the latter. It is extraordinarily unlikely that my home state of Washington will pass similar legislation but I am deeply troubled by the millions of people who 1) think it's their business; 2) think they are solving some sort of problem by making abortions hard to get. It's no use arguing with pro-choice folks; I can understand the desire to bring babies to term and even the desire/thought/insane belief that those of us with jobs and loving hearts could possibly make life good for every single pregnancy that ever occurs. But that is not how it is. I repeat, that is not how this world works. It is not how this country works.

And I simply do not understand not allowing exceptions in cases of rape and incest.

It makes me feel ill to think of it.

It makes me feel ill to feel I have no ability to make it better for others.

If you are against abortion, and reading this, I probably like you and do not want to put you off reading my livejournal. But I can't let fear of offending you stop me from saying what believe, which is that abortion prevents and sometimes ends suffering. Abortion is unavoidable. Abortion and all forms of birth control should be available to all women.

women's rights, abortion rights, scotus, politics, birth control
