Bloggin' the book(s)

My dear book-reading blog-fellows, I offer up the following:

The Best American Non-Required Reading 2004 -- I bought this because I started reading the final essay by Michelle Tea about the Michigan Womyn's Music Festival (or whatever it's called). It's a great essay if you're interested in the politics of gender--especially when you get beyond the initial boy-girl gender construct. (Ha, I'm throwing around the word "construct" like it ain't no thing. I note this because I heavily rely on the boy/girl construct. H.e.a.v.i.l.y.)

ETA: the rest of the book is miscellaneous stories and essays, not directly related to gender constructs and not terribly interesting to me, which is why I'm offering it up!

And we'll throw in a bonus second book... hm... How about the infamous White Teeth by Zadie Smith? ETA: this book is claimed.
