TWITTER

SO, the first episode of Sunao ni Narenakute is out and subbed and kind of blew my expectations out of the water. I honestly wasn't that interested in it besides wanting to check it out for Ueno Juri and Eita (both of whom are ADORABLE. I LOVE EITA'S RIDICULOUS EARS), because... it was a drama about Twitter. And while I do enjoy Twitter I just didn't think a story based around it would be that strong.

Well, that's before I knew how potentially crazy this drama is going to be. CRAZY, PEOPLE. CRAZY. We are only one episode in and there is already a hefty helping of lying, kissing, piggyback rides, mysterious tattoos, student-teacher crushes, drugs, baby daddies, workplace sexual harassment, and a whole heck of a lot of secrets. Plus, it's got kind of an awesome soundtrack (Hi there, Ting Tings!).

I'm already not a fan of the complicated powerpointish tricks the director seems to love when it comes to changing scenes, but I can get over that. My only real concern is that there is so much it will feel disjointed.

This is in sharp contrast to Personal Taste which I just find kind of insanely boring. I keep thinking "Oh maybe the next episode will be better" but here I am after episode 5 and I still really just don't care. The two leads annoy me. It's not a matter of Kae-in being kind of pathetic, because I think that is very human. It's that the story has handled it so poorly. There is no reason for me to root for her. And Jin-ho? SO DULL. WOW. And together? Blahsville.

There is no spark whatsoever to this script. It's supposed to be a romantic comedy, right? I figure I should have laughed at least once by now. I do want to stick around to see Yoon Eun-hye's cameo though.
