I got love for my city
Let me tell you what is amazing - the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Whether it be jumping from #10 to #4 in the regular season for points.
Whether it be taking down the Flyers in Game 6.
Whether it be massively taking down the Capitals in Game 7 and watching Ovechkin actually seem like a human being who can accept being second best. Though we all know he isn't, really.
Whether it be having people who are generally in the background shine in the playoffs (looking at you, Letang, 2 goals? nice!).
Whether it be Ovechkin violently and INTENTIONALLY taking out our best defenseman, Gonchar, only to have him play in the most important game of the set. And do a damn good job.
Whether it be having a captain who makes the puck his bitch.
Whether it be the sincere feeling of unity everytime you hear "Let's go Pens!" in the stadium.
And of course, whether it be seeing Mr. Fancy-Feet, #71, zig-zagging on the ice.
They made me so proud tonight, and I am feeling even more optimistic for the next round. We've already shown we can take down the #2 team in the Eastern conference, even when the odds were against us. They had a goalie who failed in the last game and a left wing who played dirty and eventually, karma came back to bite him in the ass.
I apologize for making this entirely Pens oriented, I know there are plenty of Pens blogs (that I'm addicted to) for that purpose. I just wanted to share a glorious moment of my day.
Pens 6-2. Incredible. Amazing. Almost surreal.
