I.S.O. show recap

Apr 29, 2004 10:30

the Jewelbox Theatre at the Rendezvous is like something outta The Shining. And so much smaller than I remembered. The stage was very small, considering all the chairs we needed to perform with.

I stopped for a Chicago style veggie dog beforehand and got dijon on my pants!

The show was a staged reading, so we had binders. When we weren't in a scene we sat in chairs off to the sides. Sometimes we'd call out stage directions. When the makeout scene's sound cues and music didn't come on, a couple actors had to do the Teletubbies theme song and alarm clock sounds themselves. I hit my high notes in my break up scene!

Intermission was a welcome breath of fresh air. I had on a heavy black tee w/ Siouxsie Sioux on it, under a hoodie, so I was warm under the lights. Plus, with a full room of people, it was hot in there!

Basically, everyone got laughs and did good. The Q&A was weird, I hate those. I just sat and smiled. People wanted to see it produced, though. I heard one guy said he'd help pay to produce it.

Before the show, a beauty school friend/classmate I hadn't seen in many years stopped by to say hi. It was our first time seeing each other in the flesh, and it was wild.

Afterwards, a group of us drank and had Taco Bell (vegetarian!).

stage, taco bell, weird, perform
