So, I found out today that my livejournal was mentioned in a Stranger Slog on Monday!
In my original entry, I plugged the Stranger review of "Super Females!" into my usual template of "Seattle Gay News Good Review /Stranger Bad Review" advertising. Then, someone commented that the reviewer was "lazy", since I accused him of leaving at intermission (someone told me he had and the review confirmed it.)
People posted comments about the art of reviewing, the art of theatre/theater, and even my old comic strip. :-) I don't want anyone to think I was really angry-mad about the review (anyone who knows me knows I was using it for publicity the second after I read it), but yeah, of course I'd rather he came to it and had fun.
Although, even the Seattle Gay News HATED one of our shows, but at least mentioned that the audience was laughing. People were laughing the night he came to "Super Females!"
Another person says you shouldn't expect to use a review for advertising, just buy an ad, but for us it's just not financially possible, yet. So, I can't really complain about a short, dismissive review, since it's great press. And, since the Stranger doesn't like ANYTHING(that phrase needs a copyright), why not be something they can't even be bothered to put an exclamation point on the end of? THAT'S what makes me MAD! "Super Females!" has an exclamation point on the end, damnit! :-)
