Bar Sinister, BATTLEWORLD, Tuesday

May 10, 2016 00:01

For a mad scientist's lab, the decor was actually nice. Everything was bright, with appealingly contrasting colors. The various liquids of probably horrific origins were moving in bags and vials and over on that table. And off in one section of the lab were several vials of blood next to the person they came from, Jessica Drew. Considering the way she had died when Captain Marvel punched through her chest, she was looking pretty good. The blood had been cleaned up, the hole in her chest was gone, and the corpse was wearing an outfit that would have looked good on someone on stage in 1978. Because this WAS Sinister's lab and he had a certain style.

And then, suddenly, the corpse took a long gasp of breath and Jessica sat up. She quickly patted her chest where a giant hole should be and found nothing more than a nasty scar. She pulled some tubing out of her mouth, nose, and arm, then rolled off the counter she had been set on. It took her a minute to be steady on her feet, but her spider-sense wasn't going off. That meant she had a minute to look around.

She could tell that she was in one of Sinister's labs (the purple mood lighting around a table in the center of the room gave that away), but there were no signs that anyone had been around today. But whenever they were around, they had apparently been busy, judging by all of the samples around her. She didn't like the sight of that blood. She especially didn't like the sight of some tubes that were glowing.

"Okay. Anything I can start a fire with?" she asked herself.

Tony Stark (8096)
Well, that was good because Tony really did not want to bury another friend, Jessica. It was not on his list of things he wanted to happen again ever.

So.

After flying over the weirdest place he'd ever been to, he managed to zero in on what seemed like the most likely location for an evil lab. In a country that looked like it was made of evil labs. Okay, so maybe it took a few false starts before he found the right one. Sue him.

Hopefully Jessica was expecting Iron Man to burst on into the room, hands up and ready to shoot some crazy people.

Jessica Drew (16107737)
"Great. Now Sinister has an Iron Man," Jessica said as Tony burst in. She was weak. She definitely didn't have enough protein in her system to generate webbing. And she was super pissed off, so she wasn't going to let those first two points slow her down. "Come on! Get on with it!"

Sorry, Tony, but there was a lab table flying your way now.

Tony Stark (8096)
"Whoa!" Tony ducked, having the armor peel away from himself, hands raised in surrender. Because he was a moron. "Here to help!"

Jessica Drew (16107737)
"Oh. Sorry," Jessica said. "That is the you I think you are, right?"

Tony Stark (8096)
"Would any of the others have been forgiving that you threw a table at them?"

Jessica Drew (16107737)
"Probably, actually. Other versions of you have always been good to me," Jessica said. "How long have I been gone that you made the trip to find me?"

Tony Stark (8096)
Well, that did cheer him up a little after the whole evil ruling a country thing. "About a week. What happened?"

Jessica Drew (16107737)
"I came here to see if Baron Sinister was up to anything that might destabilize the physical makeup of the world. I was here like 10 minutes before a weird, corrupted Carol Danvers found me," Jessica said. "I'm... I'm pretty sure she killed me."

Tony Stark (8096)
"Carol?" Why did you have to make him sad again? Why? This world was the worst. He shook he head. "Let's get you out of here."

Jessica Drew (16107737)
"No. First, we destroy this place," Jessica said. She gestured to some of the tubes and containers around. "That's my blood, my tissue. I don't know what Sinister did with my samples over the past week, but he doesn't get to keep any of it. Nobody gets to turn me into an experiment again."

Tony Stark (8096)
Tony looked around, taking stock on what they had in the lab. "I can do that."

Because he did need to conserve energy for the suit to get them the hell out of there. Also, he was perfectly capable of building explosive devices out of whatever he found around him.

It was a gift.

Jessica Drew (16107737)
"There's a reason you're a great friend to have," Jessica noted. "Once you're done with whatever you're building, I want to go back to Doomstadt. If I've been down for a week, I need to find out what's happened in that time."

Tony Stark (8096)
"What exactly are you doing for Doom?" Tony asked, carefully assembling the supplies he needed so it wouldn't blow up in his face.

It had to wait until it was done to blow up. And he was going to sacrifice his phone for this. You better be happy, Jessica.

Jessica Drew (16107737)
"Just checking if an even bigger bastard was going to make reality fall apart," Jessica said. "Doom literally holds Battleworld, this whole planet of universes, together through sheer force of will. If somebody tries to take him down, it's somebody who think's they're great enough to be God. Best case, Battleworld ends up with a CRUEL evil god instead of the benevolent evil god they have. Worst case, it all collapses. I'm not ready to let either of those things just happen."

Tony Stark (8096)
"This is seriously the worst place I have ever been," Tony told her sweetly, stripping wire with his teeth. "Seriously beating out being captured by the Brood to be married off to one of them.

Jessica Drew (16107737)
"Yeah. But it's all that's left of millions of worlds," Jessica said. "That means it's worth trying to save."

Tony Stark (8096)
"Not questioning that part. Just letting you know."

Worst. World. Ever.

"But we now how a bomb that'll go off shortly. If you're ready to go save the rest of this place."

Jessica Drew (16107737)
"Let's get out of here," Jessica said. "There's a chance that the stealth craft I took to get here is still out there. I parked it about a mile out. It'll get us back in no time."

Tony Stark (8096)
He glanced down at the phone to check how much time they had. "Lead the way."

Jessica Drew (16107737)
Shortly after they left, the lab exploded, which pretty much took the castle down with it. It was entirely possible that some of the experiments were rather volatile.

[OOC: Once again, big thanks to imafuturist for being a rockstar. NFwhatever and all that.]
