Parcel Swap... Of Rassilon

Aug 13, 2008 15:03

Okay, I haven't sent this parcel off yet so I'm putting all this behind a cut.

If you're on this comm Suzie, NO PEEKY!

Okay, not included in this photographic extravaganza is a bag of sower patch kids with "Patch Kids" crossed out and "Jelly Babies" written in. I also included some of those Betty Cocker microwave cakes and some edible ball bearings to sprinkle on them.

First up we have a knitted and felted celery pin attached to a print out of the pattern. The person I'm sending the package to said she knits so I included print outs of Who related knitting patterns with the URLs for where they came from. These I put in a blue expandable file that I decorated to look like the doors of the TARDIS... Expandable file. It's bigger on the inside! Get it!? Ha ha! Funny? No? Okay. :)

BEHOLD THE MUG OF RASSILON!

The mug was $3 at either TJ Maxx or Tuesday Morning... I forget which store this particular mug came from.

My local craft store sells paints and pens that you can use on glass and ceramic. I got a pen. I printed out a Seal of Rassilon design made a template and traced the lines to fill in. I wanted it to be kind of different, the handle on the mug (which you can't see, sorry) is kind of quirky. So instead of just doing the whole seal, I made it a bit larger then the mug, turned it on its side and left it open. Following the instructions on the pen, I let it sit for 24 hours and then baked the mug at 325 for 40 minutes. The design is now "dish washer resistant"... I hope that means she can put it in the dish washer... I've used the paints before and they worked great, this was the first time I used a pen.

Okay, so "Family of Blood" is one of my person's favorite episodes. So I thought I would take a normal cheap powder compact (Cover Girl) and make it into the pocket watch. But... Dude... Have you seen the design on the face of that thing??? Holy shmoley! So I went with the "Time Lord Seal" instead. Here I used Elmers "Paint Pens" which I got at the same craft store. They provided very good coverage on the smooth plastic surface of the compact.

Everything looks great from 5 feet away... Close up everything looks like they're made to be seen from 5 feet away... *blush*

So, yeah, I used to be better at this sort of thing. I'm rusty just a bit.

EDIT: You can see what the mug looks like (without my painting) on the front page of gowaredesign.com.

Does anybody have any suggestions on what else I could put in there?

props, pottery, rassilon, knitting
