So the dollfie I'm waiting for is seriously only a 20 minute drive from my house. I had payed for her weeks ago, but the seller asked if I could wait till after 8/30 before I received her, as she was in the middle of wrapping up wedding craziness for her daughter. Things were hectic for her. I understand. So we made arrangements. I was to meet her today at the Barnes and Nobel in her area to do a pick up. Saves the hassle of packaging and shipping, and it's in a public place so there'd be less risk of foul play. After all, it's still the internet, and you never know what a person can be like when you meet them. So I waited for over 2 weeks very patiently for today. I messaged her yesterday that 4pm would be a good time for me. I waited all day with no reply. I go to work, and get home some time around 11pm. "Hey! I can only do mornings for a meet up". Huh. Wish she would have stated that sooner so I could have made arrangements. Too late for me to make a change to my schedule. Then she messaged me this morning. "Can I just ship her to you? It'd be a lot easier with my schedule". Whatever. She's paying for the shipping, not me. She's sending her out tomorrow, so I'm looking at Thursday as the delivery day. I will be seriously pissed if she's delayed till Friday.
Now, this is what I don't get. The gal has my address. She knows the area I live in. She was willing to drive out to meet me up. Now she's going to pay for shipping, which will not be cheap, to send out an item that she could easily drive over. Not to mention the whole pain of boxing the doll up properly. Also, did I mention the woman is retired? As in, she has lots of free time? I'm just not getting it. To me, it's a silly waste of time and money to go through with the shipping process. It sucks, because I was really hoping to take my new dollfie to Novi with me tomorrow, and get pictures of us at the Japanese bakery and cafe. Ah well. Looks like I'll have to bring home some treats if I want those pics to happen. Fart sandwiches! This is a silly silly pickle. I know it's not the end of the world. It's just like telling a kid on Christmas morning that they have to wait till New Years to open their gifts, because the out-of-town relatives missed their flight and wont be able to get another flight out till then. Pleh.
In other news, I never received a call back from the optometrist's office, so I'm going to assume they went with some one else. :( I hate being called in for interviews and not getting called back. It's a real let down. Gonna' hit the ol' job search even harder now. Hm. Wonder if the Doll Hospital and Toy Soldier shop is hiring. That would be a great place for me to work.
