FO's and a question

My former step-mother's niece is expecting a baby at the end of the month, she was my best friend growing up, so when I found out she was pregnant I decided I was going to make her something for the wee one. I found Baby Sweater Buffet on Ravelry, and I had to make one for her little one. I decided to make it an owl sweater, and it ended up working out perfectly, because her nursery theme is woodland creatures.

Please forgive my makeshift model, I don't have a spare 6-month-old laying around that I can use to model what I make, so my husband's claw machine prize of the Batman Villain the Penguin had to do. It worked out fairly well, though not perfect.

She opted to not find out the gender of the baby, so I tried to make it as gender neutral as possible. Made with KnitPicks Wool of the Andes Superwash in Marina and Cadet.

As a barter for a logo design from another former step-family member, I was asked to make a hat and mittens for his grandson. After he saw the dead fish hat that I made for my husband, he wanted one for Austen, then he asked for a pair of mittens as well

I am incredibly proud of how these turned out, I've never made mittens before, they're a little rough around the edges but overall I'd say it's not bad for a first attempt. They're probably a little long, but again, that's because I don't have a spare toddler laying around to try on things as I make them.

Then, this month is Pride month. My Father-in-law fell in love with the dead fish hats that I've made, so he asked me to make him one in rainbow so he could wear it to the Pride celebration in Minneapolis at the end of the month.

That's what I've been up too!

For those of you who crochet, and those of you who specifically crochet with wooden hooks, what brands are your favorite and where do you get them? I recently bought a Chiagoo hook and I love the way the yarn works up with it, I love that the yarn doesn't stick to the hook and how it won't heat up with holding it (which is going to be great with the warm summer months) and create drag and make my hand all sweaty, so I'm looking to replace all of my metal hooks with wooden ones (except maybe the really thin ones, but that's to be determined yet). Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated!
