Time gets a little weird when we don’t go to Prost on Tuesday and/or there’s no gaming on Wednesday. And I’ve been working a bit late each day, so the days seem longer. We did hang out on Tuesday, we met J-Walt’s girlfriend and dog, we just went to Beveridge Place, a bar in West Seattle that allows dogs instead of Prost.

Getting in the home stretch! My presentation is next week, the paper is due the week after that. I’ll probably write the paper first, just to get all my thoughts together, and then take on the presentation, hopefully I can get some good work on it done today. I have some other stuff I need to do as well, so we’ll see.

Got the sourdough starter going, so between baking the first loaves and making some chocolate chip cookies the house smells very nice. Definitely better than the one I’d purchased previously. The last one had to be kept at 90°F, and considering it never gets that warm here, that meant keeping it in the oven with the light on. Which is fine, and ( Read more... )

Ok, I’ve had enough. I’ve been way too spoiled. In the past 1.5 weeks, I’ve been to 5 restaurants for Seattle Restaurant Week, and 2 other fancy restaurants besides. And on the retreat, no home-cooked meals. And fast food once too. It has been way too long since I had a home-cooked meal. I’ve been feeling a little gross as a result. We went down to Olympia for an early Easter (Chocolate Day) dinner. I tried and failed to make a Pavlova, it was just too humid, I couldn’t get any volume on the eggs. So I threw together a chocolate torte, as I pretty much have the recipe memorized, and made the berries into a coulis. So it certainly worked out. Nooooo idea what to make for CupcakeCamp Seattle. Well, I have some ideas. I have an idea for healthiest, although I’d like to try a different frosting recipe. No real idea for Seattle-y, everything keeps coming up coffee, which is a little pedestrian. And unique ingredients…not sure.
