TOS

FREELY GIVEN
by Jenna Hilary Sinclair (Kirk/Spock, adult, 23,169 words)
Summary: Kirk and Spock go to a planet where a kiss is acceptable between men.
Notes: This is one of the best TOS fics I have ever read. The pacing is gradual and engaging, the character voices are perfect, and the scenes are beautifully vivid. A beautiful portrayal of Spock figuring out just what he and Jim are too each other.

Shotgun
by penknife (Kirk/Spock, unrated SFW, 415 words)
Summary: One thing Kirk never expected.
Notes: Beautifully written and hilariously wry. The humor in this is understated and perfect, and the whole situation feels incredibly plausible. A short, wonderful piece.

TNG
casting shadows
by quasiradiant (ro laren/deanna troi, G, 1000ish words)
Summary: “Are they shadows that we see? And can shadows pleasures give? Pleasures only shadows be, cast by bodies we conceive.”
Notes: Insightful, fluid and beautifully written. The writer is obviously quite comfortable in Ensign Ro's headspace, and I love the way the story takes a brash, difficult character and turns her into someone I can really warm up to.
