These Fragments Shored Against My Ruins by echoinautumn (bridge crew, R, ~12,000 words)
Summary: When McCoy goes missing on an emergency mission, the Enterprise searches for clues to his disappearance and encounters a dangerous race.
Notes: This fic had the feel of a TOS episode to me, with an action-driven plot and all of the characters working together to thwart a seemingly much stronger enemy. McCoy in particular shines here in his bravery.
On the other side of every mountain by jactrades (McCoy, Kirk, R, 6,300 words)
Summary: It's nine in the morning, they've already been in the OR tent for four hours, and Jim Kirk, surgeon extraordinaire, feels chatty. Of course.
Notes: This is a fusion/crossover of sorts with M*A*S*H, which you don't need to have seen to appreciate this. (I hadn't.) I quite enjoyed the friendship between Kirk and McCoy, and the sense of camaraderie and family among the rest of the cast of characters.
