Monday
Andy stood in the kitchen door, hovering around like a dumbshit for a few minutes before suddenly announcing “I’m leaving.”
“Leaving where.” Merrick asked, digging through the fridge for leftovers to put out for dinner.
“Work.” A pause. “Fuck.”
“It’s six at night, the fuck kind of job did you fucking get?” The redhead shot back, straightening and nearly hitting his head on the fridge shelf at he turned to look at the other man.
“Security. At a hospital. It’s overnight so it’s a shit lot of money.” He ran a hand through his hair and then shrugged. “Can you feed the brat dinner on your own?”
“Yeah,” Merrick said, watching the blond move forward and returning the kiss automatically. “See you when you get back.”
Tuesday
Merrick yawned, rubbing one eye with the heel of his palm, stretching out across the sheets before realizing the bed wasn’t empty like it had been when he’d gone to sleep. Turning, he blinked down at Andy, poking him in the shoulder with one long finger. “Hey.”
“Hnnngn?” The blond turned a bit, not opening his eyes. “Yeh?”
“What time did you get back?” This time Andy did open his eyes, blinking irritably before turning over to peer at the alarm clock he’d gotten.
“Uhhnn, hour ago? Hourhalf.” He turned back, snuggling closer to Merrick and closing his eyes again. “Nigh’.”
From down the hall came the sound of something glass hitting something like the floor, and subsequent high pitched swearing that was impressive from somebody that young, and Merrick snorted and slid out of bed to get the kid some cereal.
Wenesday
“Ugh god fucking work fucking sucks, goddamn capitalism is such shiiiiit,” Andy nearly whined, stretching his arms out across the kitchen table and yawning again. “So fucking tired what the fuck.”
“How’re you tired when you slept all damn day?” Anarchy asked from the other side of the table, leaning forward and mimicking the blond’s movements as he twisted his head to peer into his face.
“Because everybody kept making fucking noise all day and waking me up,” Andy nearly snapped back, frowning for a moment before sighing and closing his eyes. “Ugh this is just like fucking late watch but longer and fucking stupider.”
“How can your watch be late?”
Thursday
Merrick was up when he got back, sitting up in bed and grinning in that half predatory way, leaning forward while Andy sat at the end and kicked off his boots. “Hey.”
“Hey,” he said back, peeling off his socks and watch and unbuttoning his stupidshit work shirt. Then there was a weight against his back, Merrick’s arms wrapping around his waist and long fingers doing it for him, sliding lower as Andy leaned back and half closed his eyes. “I’m really fucking tired.”
The fingers stopped, and he could feel the other man turn to look at him. “Fucking got up to see you, ass.”
“Yeah, I know.” He paused, opening his eyes and then letting them shut again completely. “Fuck. Sorry.”
“Hnn.” Merrick pulled away, pressing a kiss against the back of his neck anyway before climbing up off the bed. “Well to go fucking sleep then, I’m going to go wash some clothes so we have something to wear. Ugh. I think we need to get Anarchy more than four days worth of shit.”
“Yeah okay we’ll buy him more clothes,” Andy mumbled, leaning back and grabbing for sheets as he lay down. “’morrow.”
Friday
“Nmmh hey,” Andy muttered, leaning forward to press his lips against Merrick’s shoulder, rumpled and just up. The redhead leaned back, turning his head to maneuver a kiss while still trying to watch the fucking spaghetti and wondering how the fuck he’d know when it was done. “Want to do stuff before I leave?”
Fucking timing goddamn. “I’m trying to fucking make dinner.”
The blond blinked, looking at the pot as if he’d never seen the thing before before shrugging and sliding a hand up the back of Merrick’s shirt. “So just turn it off for a minute, the brat can wait to eat.”
“What no I can’t I’m hungry and I want to eat!!” They were interrupted by a shrill protest as the five year old bounded into the room, skidding to a stop in front of both of them as he stared at the stove. “I wanted bagel bites instead pleeeeease can we have bagel bites or popsicles??”
Merrick shot the other man a look and Andy just sighed, rubbing at his forehead and snorting. “Yeah. Yeah, okay. I’m going to go take a goddamn shower then. Ugh. Fuck.”
Epilogue
There was a slamming noise from somewhere, muffled and distant, but by the time it repeated itself much closer Merrick was awake enough to tell it was doors, and that somebody was in their fucking apartment in the middle of the night.
“Hey,” came a voice in the dark as the redhead groped for the bedside light, flipping it on in time to stare in sleepy confusion at the blond before glancing sharply at the clock as if it’d tell him what time it was.
“You’re supposed to be at work.”
Andy ran a hand through his hair, shrugged, and then pounced forward onto the bed, grinning tiredly. “I quit.”
“Oh.” The streetlights outside hadn’t shorted out yet, so it couldn’t be past midnight. Merrick considered this for a moment before letting out a sharp breath and reaching up to grab the blond’s shoulders, twisting to shove him into the sheets. “Good.”
