Katrina: A Rant Against the Bystanders
Im tired of hearing people gossip about Katrina, have you heard this, have you seen such and such, can you believe that, can you imagine what it is like? no. no you cannot, none of us can. donate, help, volunteer, but dont try to put yourself in those peoples shoes because you cannot, neither can i. ive seen mass destruction, looting, food lines, homelessness, desperation, the best and the worst of people, and all of my little bit of experience means nothing. i cannot comprehend anything that is going on in the wake of katrina, and to think that i can, that any of us can, is just foolish and misleading. why? because we arent there. our lives are not their lives, we have no way to understand them. do what you can to help, but dont speak about those people as if you know and understand them.
