Things!
First: This is me plugging Wario Ware: Smooth Moves, an incredibly fun and random game for Wii. Play Bungee Buddies.
Second: I have completed my collection of 52... got the last 3 issues I was missing today, along with a mystifying but ultimately unsatisfying issue of Blue Beetle.
Third: I went to MCC tonight and heard the "State of the School" address or whatever they called it. The plans are something to strive for and eventually acheive, and I think they are good plans for the most part. I wonder, however, if some of the policies will reduce the students to numbers and bubbles on a scantron sheet. There was also no mention of the role of the arts... if they are improving the faith community, academics, athletics and facilities, shouldn't the curricular/extracurricular band, choir, theater and visual arts programs also be bolstered instead of being neglected by the administration as they have been for the past 5 years (or more)?
Fourth: Matchbox Twenty, Fastball, Weezer, Gin Blossoms, Goo Goo Dolls, The Wallflowers, Barenaked Ladies, Sugar Ray even Smash Mouth: all late nineties/early 2000s bands that seemed to fit into their own niche, post-grunge, existing outside of boy band hell and pre- everything else of recent. How could one classify that period of music? "Alternative" is kind of a BS classification, because that has broadly (and improperly) been stretched from R.E.M.'s early days to some things today that bear no resemblence.
Any takers on classifying?
