So, I still haven't posted. The idea of updating you all on EVERYTHING that has happened is a little...daunting. So let's run through it quickly, mm?
Kaiti's present to me....was posters! Two Gundam SEED Destiny ones (one of Kira and his scandalous naked body!). Aaaand some Japanese magazines, and a Fullmetal Alchemist notebook of AWESOME, and yeah...A bunch of various Japanese things. I can't remember if that was them all right now, and I'm too lazy to go check. But it is all awesome.
The Dollhouse finale was INTENSE. I was so nervous, because it is a Whedon finale, so I was certain someone, if not EVERYONE, was going to die. And people did die. And it was sad. I cried A LOT. And kept crying, even after it was done. And Marie and Patrick, who I watched it with (and had both already seen it) both cried. They also both started whimpering at...multiple moments. I thought that maybe this one character would die, and then that character came on screen and that's when they started whimpering, which made me scared. And then I cried. It was amazing, though. A spectacular finale. Kudos, Whedon and team. I'm so going to miss this show. (random trivia that explains the intenseness more: Apparently Joss put three seasons worth of plot into the final few episodes. Wow)
Um...I'm actually not going to talk about random Patrick adventures, because I'm sure they'll come up in future posts because they happen ALL THE TIME. I'm also not gonna talk about the Olympics, though they were a good time. Yay hockey, though!! Congratulations to ALL of Canada's athletes!
Okay, so, Patrick and I adventure around Regina finding comic shops and drooling. And...the day we watched the Dollhouse finale and all cried, Patrick bought Clover, a short manga by CLAMP. I'm going to tell you this now, if you don't have CLAMP in your life, it is time to change that. They are the Joss Whedons of the manga world. I read Cardcaptor Sakura (CCS) many months ago, and it is adorable beyond belief. Like, almost as adorable as Fruits Basket. This is serious shit, guys. Anyways, I knew they'd done Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicles (T:RC), the epic alternate-dimensions cross over of everything CLAMP that stars alternate dimension versions of Sakura and Syaoran from CCS, and xxxHolic, T:RC's companion story, and I knew a little about them...mostly from reading the back of the T:RC volumes in the Murray library, and then from randomly looking at Evan's copies of xxxHolic. Anyways, since I enjoyed CCS so much, I started reading T:RC only to stop myself two or three chapters in. Not because it wasn't good - only a couple of chapters, and it is already super intense and has me hooked - but because I realized that if I read farther, I would meet characters that were featured in CLAMP works besides CCS (there are only two original characters in T:RC - the rest are crossover and alternate dimension versions of characters from their other series) and I wanted to recognize them. I wanted to be as excited to see Ora from Clover (which I hadn't read yet) as I was to see Yukito from CCS. So, I held off.
I held off on xxxHolic too, because it is a companion story to T:RC. But then I borrowed Clover from Patrick and oh. my. god. It was beautiful. I don't really know how else to describe it other than that. Yes, it is heartbreaking and sad and kickass and confusing. But, ultimately, it's beautiful. Not just the art - but the story. The story is confusing, and unfinished (the magazine it was being released in was cancelled before Clover finished it, so it is only four short volumes long - that said, it wraps up pretty nicely, the world it takes place in just is never properly explained and explored), but it is beautiful. I love it. The more I think about it, the more I love this manga. Don't read it online either, guys. You owe it to yourself to read a hard copy published by Darkhorse, because they did a fantastic job of the English translations.
But I'm rambling. The point is, I started reading some Chobits and RG Veda and finished Legal Drug, all CLAMP mangas. And they are all awesome. And then Patrick and I watched a couple of episodes of the xxxHolic anime (English dub - which is actually legitimately AMAZING and I love it, possibly more than the original Japanese) and I broke. I had to read the manga. I read all 199 chapters out at the time in less than a week, and this series is AMAZING. It happens at the same time as T:RC, so I am confused about a LOT right now because I haven't read both, but apparently it'll be explained once I get to T:RC. So that's good. Regardless, xxxHolic is fantastic (it also has a BEAUTIFUL bromance and some of the most lovable characters ever, including Yuko, who is deliciously wonderful). And, I should note, I cried A LOT in this. The most I have in any manga, definitely. The point is, CLAMP is made up of geniuses and I love them. I'm working my way through their other series, but I'll probably break down and read T:RC before I finish them because I want the xxxHolic stuff 'slpained. So yeah. There's my rant on why you should all go read CLAMP. Like, immediately.
So, I read all that just before / during the beginning of the break. It was sweet. And then the break happened, and that was also sweet. For Valentines day, Nolan and my second, we went to Earl's and we sat in the lounge. THE LOUNGE, GUYS. 'Cause I can do that legally now. It was wonderful. I also hung out with my S'toon friends, saw Avatar again, went skating with Nolan, and did some editing. I'm still suuuuper behind on editing my NaNo novel, though, guys. If I want to take the CreateSpace deal and self-publish for free, then I need to get on that. You should all encourage me. :D
Also, next month you should encourage me as I take on Script Frenzy, the NaNo for scripts (100 pages - one month). This is my first year, and between school and editing NaNo, I probably won't succeed, but I will give it my best shot. So you should encourage me to just do my best on that front, too!
Phew. That...was long. I don't think I have much more to say. Nothing that you can't be updated on in future posts, anyways. Toodle pip!
