The best way to get anything done is to have something theoretically more important to do, but that is non-urgent and so vastly unpleasant that it makes anything else seem like a joy. Studying for exams is the classic example that has cleaned many a kitchen. Having long escaped the confines of academia this option is no longer available to me, but I'm just now getting acquainted with a potentially inexhaustible new source. Specifically, right now my desk is tidier than it's been in years, I'm posting to LiveJournal again, I'm taking steps towards painting one of my walls, and I remain without a GST registration number.
This self-employment deal and its attendant government interactions could cross an awful lot of stuff off the old to-do list, assuming I can keep from hurling myself off the balcony.
