From http://action.aclu.org/reformthepatriotact/:

Our Constitutional Freedoms Are In JeopardyNow is the time to restore real checks and balances to the worst sections of the Patriot Act. But our chance may be lost forever when Congress votes on whether to make it permanent ( Read more... )

For those that say this is why they want to leave the country, then do it, don't just sit there and whine, leave. For those that are still here, well, here are some options for you, get your name on a ballot and change the system from within, become a lawyer, or just become a card carrying member of the ACLU. In other words, put up or shut up.

Oh, and Parker, if you don't think that you don't already have an FBI file, than you are being naive, most satanists do. Sorry, had to comment, guess my views changed a bit when i fell in love with a soldier that is now deployed overseas. I'm sick of people's whining who refuse to actually do anything about it.

I never said anything about having an FBI file.

And what if the system is so broken that participating in today's politics doesn't do a damn thing? Obviously, Bush is in office, so that shows that our system of government doesn't work as it should in some arenas. What makes you think that volunteering to be part of the problem will solve anything?

If the system is broken Parker, then sometimes you have to be part of it to fix it...that was my whole fucking point! Now, as for Bush being in office, i'm not a big fan of it either, however, whining about it instead of doing something about it is stupid...and what is the first sin in satanism...i don't think i need to remind you. The fact of the matter is this, the difference between on president over the other is which PAC or Lobby is more powerful at that time. Check your history on that, the other fact is that this war that we are in, its not just us that pulls us into shit, its those that we have treaties with. Hence why my man is overseas, its because of certain treaties that we hold ( ... )

Is it really possible to get Bush out of office now that he's stolen it for a second time? I don't think so.

Also, telling people to leave if they don't like it is a lame fucking rebuttal. What have you been through to make you so arrogant? And what makes you think that you can dictate what people can do with their lives? What makes you think you know everything, and that everyone else's viewpoints are wrong?

I was born in this country. I was raised in this country. I pay taxes in this country. I have every right to be in this country, and if I dare make a statement about how unhappy I am with this country's current state of affairs, I have the freedom of speech to do so. So, if YOU don't like it, YOU can leave. Or you can stop reading my journal. It's as simple as that.

And no, your man is overseas because he joined a band of murderers, and a bunch of snot-nosed people called "politicians" decided to deploy his pawn ass to keep people under control.

Two people can play the wise-ass game.

Well, lets see, in a couple of years, will it make a difference, no, why, because he can't be in office more than 10 years. He can't have another term, so in a couple of years, this is going to make no difference ( ... )

Oh yeah, one other thing, the patriot act, although very flawed, has been in effect for nearly 4 years, how has it effected you?

I don't know how it's affected me, which worries me. How do I know what the government keeps on file on me? I don't.

Refer back to my comment about you having an FBI file, most satanists do and i bet it dates back before 9/11 and before the patriot act. If you think for 5 seconds that you are not checked out, think again, you are a public satanist, most of us have been checked on.
