Cosplayers invade Bellis Fair Mall

Never thought I'd return to Bellis Fair Mall in Bellingham...wearing a costume!

That's what I did Friday night with my Desert Chikin friends: AmiDoji, Anjelchan, Sharachan and Smidge, plus some of Smidge's friends from work who also cosplayed. We all wore Harry Potter costumes and saw The Order of Them Phoenixes. As we walked inside we got compliments on the costumes. Mine I actually borrowed the robe and tie from the other Chikins while I supplied shirt, pants and of course Harry's glasses. We got there kinda late so we had to sit up front on the side but it wasn't that bad.

The movie itself was very enjoyable, especially since now the tale has taken a darker more serious turn. All your fave characters and some new ones too. I won't say anymore to not spoil it. It was a good movie crowd with lots of cheers, laughs and applause especially from us up front. Afterwards we walked around a little in the mall area and then took a photo before we all dispersed:

We walked across the street to McDonald's since it was close by. As we did that cars of girls (like 2 cars or so) drove by and said things like "WOO HOO Harry!" and "Hey Harry can I have your number?" That's NEVER happened before really! All I could say was "Yes, I'll send you an owl." As we ordered food more folks were complimenting us, and more girls too I think. One worker wanted me to lean over the counter so the people at the drive thru could see Harry Potter, though that was a guy. We ate (though it took forever to get my food!) and then departed and that was the end of the HP adventure.

But the new book comes out next weekend and they're having a thing at the local book store up there. Perhaps I'll go but that depends if I'm working and stuff.

Came back today after AmiDoji, Sharachan and I stopped at Uwajimaya. Ran into Fixerbard and Picakuma too along with what's her name darn I can't remember she's the pretty redhead who's always at con. Ate a Vietnamese sandwich mmmmm it was good! After that I got dropped off at home and they went back up north.

WOW! They showed the original black and white Astro Boy (or Tetsuwan Atom) on Cartoon Network--awesome! I love old anime!
