Small Update

Apr 21, 2020 10:07

Last week's sudden offer did turn into a signed contract, so we're back on track! The buyers accepted our counter-offer, and we had a signed deal Friday morning. They came out that afternoon (apparently they're currently living out of town, but I guess not too far) to see the place in person--we didn't hear anything after that, which is hopefully a no-news-is-good-news situation? So the next step is the home inspection, which should happen this week. I'm nervous about that just because this is a 35-year-old home and we know it has issues here and there, but hopefully nothing major that can derail the deal. Maybe it's just shell-shock from the last deal falling through, but I feel like they're dragging their feet scheduling the inspection and I hope that's not a bad sign. Hopefully we'll hear something on that today.

But optimistically, all will go well. We're set to close on selling here May 18, and then close on the house in Richmond on May 22. Not a lot of wiggle room! We need to get the Richmond seller to commit to a vacate date, so we can plan our move (and figure out when we can vacate here as well).

Next big step is the moving/storage container delivery, which is set for May 8. We'll spend that weekend loading it up with as much as we can, and it will get shipped up to RVA for delivery once we get there. Fun times.

Fingers crossed everything stays on track!
