my problems with american culture
Well this is what started my fight with Guy tonight: prenups. i would NEVER get one. It doesn't matter if I have millions and my husband is poor. What's the point of getting into marriage if you are expecting a divorce? Guy says it's "protection" like people get life insurance. Okay, well my parents have life insurance because who knows what happens in life, and eventually people do die. Why do people feel the need to protect themselves? To be completely judgmental, American people are selfish and have low moral character. They don't value family or marriage. I mean, what the hell, half of all people get in divorces?!! Maybe it's stupidity. I think people don't take marriage seriously and give up too easily. American people are selfish. Why would you raise your kid until they're 18 and kick them out? What makes them so special at 18 that they're an "adult?" The parents want their own freedom, to have their own fun. This is the reason why people end up in nursing homes - because they didn't take care of their kids, their kids have no reason to reciprocate. It completely boggles my mind why parents make their kids pay for school or books. It's your responsibility as a parent to support your kid. What the hell, it's not like the kids have money. The point is that they will earn it back later and take care of you later on in life. And splitting the bill??? That is the most crazy thing ever. I'm disgusted to see how many couples or families split the bill at the restaurant. Money shouldn't be an issue. I hate it when people keep track. Anyway, i would be SO offended if i was ever presented with a prenup. Marriage shouldn't be seen as a contract. Guy and I just have very different views. When i have a family i'm going to take care of my kids and support them with everything they need. That's a parent's job. I'm not going to make them pay for their cell phone bill or gas or food. It's not being spoiled, it's how things are supposed to be. I remember Guy used to pay for part of his car insurance, wtf? I guess it really shows his family is Americanized. I mean, his mom had 2 kids with 2 different fathers without even being married! of course i'm glad she did otherwise i wouldn't have Guy. But i'm also ashamed of it cause it makes Guy look bad. I don't think people should marry just because they're having a kid. But I think if you're not right for each other and you're pregnant - get a abortion! Why would you choose to raise a child in a broken family? it's selfish. It's important that families have a mother and father. K that covers most of it.
But on the good side of things, I went to the Nordstrom half-yearly sale and got a jade green wool peacoat (i love coats!) and a couple shirts. But i spent more on Amitha's bday than i spent on myself today. So it's okay =)
