family matters
Dad and Randi came on Saturday to visit and we drove by the house with them. Dad loves it! He keeps telling me about all these plants we should get for the yard and everything! It's really cool. He also had a talk with Mom yesterday and she told him she wanted a divorce (and half of his retirement!!!) Dad is very sad, but I think he kind of knew this was where everything was headed and he was prepared for the worst. He can't believe Mom has asked for half of his retirement (and I can't either, she's nutso!). So now our family is in this weird phase. Its strange since Donny and I are already moved out and our parents are getting a divorce. I don't think Donny knows yet. Mom told Dad nobody needed to know anything and he shouldn't tell us (I don't know how she thought that was going to be in the years to come...) and then she said Dad could only tell us something if we asked. Weird. I'm doing pretty good with this news, I think our living in Vancouver has really helped me with dealing with this. Dad sounds like he's handling things ok, considering. He's pretty sure she's having an affair with the guy she's living with now (mostly because she told him she's been lying to him for the past five years about being happy and everything to do with their marriage; talk about a major bomb to drop). So I think things are going to be kind of weird for a bit, but I hope it'll end up being for the best. We'll see.
