Holy shit y'all it has been forever

The farm is going great.

We're selling more hay than we have, so we're having to truck it down from the original owner's massive hay farm in south Kansas. We also bought another 160 acres that abuts our farm on the west, so we've got 324 acres now.

We've got 12 bulls and steers, 6-8 of which are fixing to go to auction since they've grown a ton since we bought them. My two favorites are staying as hill mowers on the hilly valley between the house and barn, and two we're going to feed out to eat. I've named them all, and spent hours feeding them treats and petting them, and yes I've cried a lot about selling them (they'll all likely go to slaughter) and eating the two we're feeding out.

I've got 10 chickens, after buying 13 originally (I bought 12 but the young guy pulling them from the brooder miscounted and I got 13), and I'm averaging 8-10 eggs a day. I'm kind of obsessed with them, they're so funny and sweet. They each have surprisingly different personalities, but they're all pretty social.

I just started taking horse riding lessons about two weeks ago because Allen has finally conceded that a horse is inevitable, lol. I bought a used saddle last week that I've got set up on a saw horse in my living room so I can clean it and also practice sitting on it. I've been obsessed with horses since I was a kid, so I am over the moon about learning how to take care of them and ride them.

Allen and I joined community orchestra in the city, about 45 minutes away. We go to rehearsal once a week and have a concert about every month from October to May. You can see my forehead and legs directly to the left of the conductor, and Allen is visible as the bass furthest to the left behind the cellos, lol.

I'm still knitting, and also I'm into adult coloring books now. I'm also reading a ton and I'm in a book club.

The dogs are good! Huey had knee surgery last fall, which was a long recovery but he's doing great now. Maggie is great as always, and obsessed with being outside and running in her new, significantly larger yard.

The construction business is booming too. Allen has seven metal buildings lined up, as well as smaller jobs, through like March or so? I don't have any pics of jobs though.

So life has been insanely busy and I get stuck in scroll loops of facebook and tumblr and forget to come here. Hope everyone has been doing ok!
