This has probably been a long time coming so I figure that instead of letting people assume that I've been ignoring iharthdarth-related comments, I'll respond to them. ( The rest here... )
I wasn't implying that she'd done anything illegal! I never even asked her stop or change anything!
I'm very aware that legally, there isn't a problem. It was more a matter of principle than anything else! I happen to be close friends with the creator of ihd and the similarities were just too much for me to ignore. I've seen plenty of ihd-like comics since it was created, but none have been THIS similar - down to colour scheme/page layouts/font/etc. I'm sorry, but I couldn't let it go.
The ihd style is something the creator has used for years, for many different things - it wasn't developed specifically for that comic, but years and years before. I couldn't even rightly tell you where they originally found inspiration for the style - it was long before I ever met them!
Now... that said, I'm done with the issue. I'm still not convinced of all this coincidence stuff - even Manga artists, comic book artists, Renaissance painters, and other such similar artists each had/have their own idiosyncratic differences in their work (even someone with no artistic knowledge can tell a Millais from a Rossetti or a Hunt, and they even used the same models/subject matter in most of their work) but in this case, I just don't see quite the same kind of personal distinctions, other than subject matter of course.
Still, please please let me emphasise that I'm NOT asking you to stop, or change anything, and I'm not saying it's bad (I really do think it's cute)... and I'm not necessarily calling you a liar - it's just that, as an artist and art student myself, I know a bit about how these things work and THIS extreme level of similarity is just so unlikely to develop separately. Still, for the sake of peace, I'll let it go and believe you despite my doubts. All I wanted was a mention for ihd, and I got it, so I'm placated enough.
