Scene Politics & Energy

Talking to a recent transplant from LA, he's amazed and shocked at the amount of backbiting and cliques that abound in the local BDSM communities. On one hand, we're amazingly lucky that we have enough stuff going on that we have the luxury of disdaining this group or that. On the other hand, that tendency might spell out the demise of those same groups, as it can create a negative feeling around them that few will voluntarily tolerate.

I'm actively trying to cut out or minimize sources of drama in my life, my own self-created drama included. It's hard to resist jumping in the middle of the fray on some topics, but the reward is great - it's so much more peaceful and calm when the drama around me has nothing to do with me. I can take it or leave it as I choose.

Being busy & hectic is a bit stressful, but in a productive way. I'm using my energies to create positive and life-affirming entities, be it classes, parties, or connections with others. At the end of the day, I can look back and be proud of what I've done, who I am, and the path I'm on. Two years ago, I couldn't say the same - I consider that growth, however small or unimportant it may seem.

And if I get overwhelmed, I can always curl up on the couch with my Napoleon Dynomite fleece throw for a spell.... :)
