64.3: Space.

OOC: Based on the ongoing rp with mybrothershadow.

It's small, and that's the important part.

Sitting next to Peter at the bar, Nathan's distinctly aware of the lack of space between him and his brother. He's aware that it's not just physical, it's emotional. And he's also aware that he can't remember the last time this happened. That he could actually share in Peter's happiness for a change instead of outright resenting it.

Stronger together than they were apart. He believed it, and as far as he could tell, Peter did too. Maybe it would last this time.

Although hoping for such things had done him little good before, Nathan didn't seem able to stop himself now. When he'd finally started to realize the monster he'd created, he never expected any of them to speak to him again. Not Claire, Peter, or Sasha. Not even his own mother. If Parkman managed not to kill him, it'd be nothing short of a miracle. Bennet had only stayed on board as a cross between taking care of Claire and trying to bring down Sylar, it had nothing to do with him.

He did wonder a little if all this was only happening because his throat had been slit open and he'd bled out all over the floor, but he tried to think it was more than that. They all seemed to genuinely want to speak to him, and the actual perceivable anger had been kept down to a relative minimum. He was almost impressed, Nathan wasn't sure he could have done the same in their positions. Or that anyone could.

But he was still here. Like the good old days. Close to Peter, back with his family, where he knew he belonged. It'd take time getting things back to the way they should be, and with his senate seat in jeopardy after the way Building 26 had gone, it'd become even more difficult for him to keep his priorities straight.

If he could keep this though, moments just like this, sitting here with his brother and hearing him be happy again, Nathan thought it could be okay. Maybe. As long as he never made these mistakes again. As long as the space between them never went back to the great length it'd once been.

Maybe.

He could hope.
