No one wants complete honesty, especially in a relationship. I don't just mean a romantic one, but any relationship. We all have our little secrets from each other. That doesn't mean that the big things in life shouldn't be shared or that there will be doubts if you're the one being kept in the dark.
I get why Luke didn't tell me about April. I do. It was during the whole Rory not going back to Yale and our fight. I also get that after a while it was hard to just tell me. That wasn't what hurt. Not really, though boy howdy did my baggage come back to haunt me with it. What bothered me most was that he didn't want me to meet April. Like there was the whole separate world that he didn't want me to be a part of.
I'd like to think that it was because he was so used to dealing with things on his own. When you're a bachelor for that long you're not used to involving other people in your lives. I'd like to think that, but there are times when I wonder if it's me. If I was someone else would he have shared that with them?
We're working through that now. We're being more honest and open about things which is real ironic since I locked this against him from reading it. I just don't want my insecurities about commitment turning into a big tell Lorelai everything deal. I really can live with not knowing if those jeans really do make my butt look big. I have Rory for that.
