O death where is thy sting?
I tell you all, I can be a real wuss sometimes with the most bizarre things. You all have heard me sweat this stupid hardware thing for at least two weeks now, and today, after all the buildup? Nothing.
Near the end of what was a pretty heavy day of battling my tech team to get some things fixed (whole other sore point), I decided to just walk and in and bring up the issue. The weird thing, she said, “oh yeah, I meant to ask you about that”, which means she had read the e-mail with all the info awhile back, but didn’t do anything about it. I think she was happy that I had already figured out the solution (I know I am when the people that work for me do that). And instead of really being anything but chatty about the whole thing, she had a brain storm about something they should have been doing since long before I got there, which is incorporating replacement losses into their estimates.
Anyway, it’s almost done… tomorrow I have to go talk to the CFO, but that’s really just to get the OK to cut a check for $40k for the replacement units… easier than it sounds.
Rachel has been on a movie shoot for the last couple of days and nights, so we’ve been limited to text messaging, which I think it kind of fun, actually. She makes me smile, and that’s exactly what I needed a couple of times today. After what will probably be a whole day of napping for her on Wednesday, she’s coming over for dinner and to watch The Riches, which she also worked on awhile back. No cooking for me this time, she requested pizza and I have a hard time saying no to a lady that asks for pizza… just all part of being a gentleman, I guess.
