I need to be more careful about the kickstarters I back. One time I backed what ended up being a phony project (luckily Kickstarter shut it down), and this time I backed one that was in China. I could have sworn that it was Canada. I don't like packing projects outside of North America because if I ever need to return something, it's costly. Most recent was a jacket that I really, really like. However, sizing was definitely not on the American standard. I used their size chart but I'm a person with wide shoulders and not stick skinny arms, so I ended up asking for an exchange. I only asked for the exchange after I estimated the cost of return to China, but when I went to the Post Office I was about $10 over my original estimate. JUST NOT WORTH IT.
So there's $34 down the drain.
In happier news, I got my clarisonic Mia 1 yesterday. That feels funny when I'm cleaning around the nose area. Here's hoping that it'll help with the clogged pores I tend to get on my chin.
I had also picked up a pair Natalie Stretch Bootleg Jeans by KUT FROM THE KLOTH in size 8P, but it was actually too big. I'm saddened by this. The jeans were really soft and nice, and a lovely dark blue (technically, the color was called immeasurable... uh, ok, because that's really a descriptive color). I'm debating whether or not to try a 6P. They were also a little too long, but I'm not sure if a size smaller will also help with that or not.
Luckily the site I bought from offers free shipping and free returns.
I also bought a pair of Climawear Front Runner High Waist Leggings leggings in medium. Fit and comfort was better than the Nux leggings I tried recently. However, underwear lines and "camel toe" were noticeable, so I'm returning those too. I'd be willing to buy Climawear in the future, but I think it will have to be a heavy print for me to really like them.
I don't feel so bad about the Climawear or the Nux not working out, because New Balance Factory outlet had their annual half off sale this week. I picked up a pair of leggings that I'm very happy with. It reinforced the decision to return the Climawear.
Speaking of reinforced decisions, I am not buying into the Adidas subscription box program. Last weekend, I went to a department store to try on Adidas clothes because I have no idea what I am in their sizing. The answer is I'm not. Everything I tried on looked a little weird on me or didn't fit at all.
I did want to order from Yogasmoga out of curiosity. They often do sales, but I don't know what size I am. And items on sale don't get covered by free returns. Maybe next month I'll experiment. I don't really feel like putting more charges on my credit card even if I plan on returning items.
tldr;
My spending is not great this month but not as bad as I originally thought.
