Thursday afternoon started out kinda stinky. I was running late to pick up
count_gregula at the fitness center because stupid laundry was taking forever to dry, which resulted in me getting there at noon with only an hour until I had to be at work. Which meant lunch would have to be rush-rush. We decided to go to
Cap'n Nemo's because 1) it is two blocks from my work and 2) it's quick. Well to my dismay, I remembered there was an afternoon ball game at Wrigley and got stuck in stupid Cubs traffic, which stressed me out tremendously. I was also a bit stressed out by a voice mail from work asking me to come in early, which there was no way I could do :|. We finally get to the restaurant and wouldn't you know it? It was full of lunchtime patrons and Cub fans grabbing a bite before the game ARGH. There was even no parking in the lot! Luckily someone pulled out so we could park and enjoy our meal. However, I didn't have time for a sandwich and was still feeling very stressed so I just ordered a bowl of chili and Greg got a soup meal with cornbread. I'm glad that the employee running the counter was understanding and didn't let my irritable mood get to him, what an awesome guy! The owner rang up our order and suggested that I take Waveland Ave. to work and I realized OMG that is the street that borders my work. So I ended up getting to work 15 minutes early and was able to leisurely get ready for my 1-7 shift. I get to the front end and the assistant service manager asks me if I could stay til 9 but I had to say no because it was Greg's night off and I felt bad about it but luckily he was cool and there was no problemo :). Work went by so slooooooooooooow because the game went into extra innings and nobody was shopping, wheeee. I managed to escape the post-game crowd after my shift was over and Greg even came over to pick me up (actually he was dropped off by Mother G. and friend) which pleased me :). I was slightly annoyed that they had gone to dinner beforehand because I was hungry and wanted to have some dinner myself. We ended up going to get some ice cream cones at Baskin Robbins which was yummy and Greg and I decided to go see a movie at Golf Mill. We saw
Traitor which started out good but we ended up falling asleep sometime in the middle because we were both so tired. Which disappointed me as the movie seemed to be pretty good :(.
Yesterday was lots of fun! We slept in, which was sort of nice but I was disappointed to have not heard my alarm go off because I had wanted to get some laundry done. So I had to do it as soon as I woke up which delayed us for the day's activities, which turned out not to be a big deal as we didn't have to be anywhere at a certain time. We left the house to go down to Homer Glen, IL to see one of our favorite radio personalities
Dick Biondi do his
Friday Night Request Party live at
Pepe's Mexican Restaurant. It was super crowded there (naturally) so we were told there would be a 45-minute wait until we could get a table which was OK with us because we could meet and greet with Mr. Biondi and watch him do his live show while we waited. We got to meet him and he remembered us and I got to give him a hug! Just as we were getting ready to take our picture with him, our pager went off letting us know our table was ready lol. We got to our table and had some free chips and salsa which were very yummy and ordered the "Biondi" burrito platter which came with a free "I Ate A Biondi Burrito At Pepe's" t-shirt, how cool! I'm pretty sure that burrito had like 6,000 calories in it as it had everything but the kitchen sink: steak, cheese, sour cream, avocado, lettuce and tomato *massive homer drool*. After dinner we went back to the DJ booth and got our autographs but before we got up there, they were having a trivia contest and I ended up winning a $25 gift certificate, hurray! With all the free swag we got from WLS-FM (post it notes, keychain, stickers) and a free Pepe's cap from the restaurant we made out like bandits :D. We were originally going to go to the casino afterwards but we decided just to go home as it was after midnight and I wanted to be up for the next day's hijinks ;).
Today will be Eli's Cheesecake Festival (hopefully we get there before it closes!) and tiki tiki drinky drinky with a few
Yelpers later on at
Hala Kahiki, can't wait for that :). Well I gotta get going now cos Greg needs me so see you all laters!!!!!!!!!!!
