SInce I have the old style tv's (not digital) I can't seem to find anyone who can tell me how I can get my signal into my tv-- and several say I can't.
Yet, digital tv's are prohibitively expensive for something that is essentially a vanity, as I can get news and information on the internet, I just can't WATCH stuff like I want to.

The converter box hooks up to an antenna to make the digital over the air signal work on the older analog tv's.
However, the power of the signals dropped while at the same time having more bandwith so that they could replace one channel feed with four. However, the result is that now you can't get hardly anything.
Before, with analog, we could get static and see the show through static. Now, it either works or not. No signal, no nothing but a little box that says NO SIGNAL.
IF you are lucky, you can get frequent but small dropouts that don't trigger the no signal sign and results in random colored images and sounds that are unidentifiable.
Keep in mind that I am hardly a mile from the source of the signal, the PBS station just on campus here in my own town.

Or it could just be direct tv.
Dang cable and direct tv both suck, and the new digital over the air signal is weaker and worse than the old analog.
IF you think of it, its like a conspiracy to keep lower income/fixed income people away from information sources-- no tv, no news programs.
THank goodness for Verizon internet. they are waaaay coool.
