Whats Up Update

Well its been a while since I posted, so here is the status report for now....... Good news all around!

1) AREA 51

The house is great!

I was doing laundry this morning (three loads-- without paying 3.00 each) and thought what a life of luxury I have now!  I love my own bathroom and I am doing it all in browns, beiges, and greens. I even didn't mind it a bit mopping and cleaning it, but the tub is harder for me and my joints.  ITs worth it though.  THe dishwasher is nice too, and the drapes pulled aside let in the sun and we even have indoor plants that are thriving now.  THings are fairly color coordinating adding tot he air of luxury. Netflix provides something new every few days, and my air conditioner keeps the house cool at low power even when its 102 outside.

There are some issues, some maintenance issues we put in for, the drunken pow-wows that occaisionally break out upstairs, but for the most part I really like here.   We have a lot of boxes left to unpack, but I am getting to them slowly at a couple of boxes a day and/or some other errands.  WIth a few more weeks, it will be nice and open.

And for my birthday I am getting a folding table and chair set (on sale tomorow at ShopKo) so Ruth and I can do projects or play games with friends.  I have room to set it up in the computer room or my room, even, depending on size I get.  And the dead apple computer lives again-- it needed a poke on the motherboard and was up and running.  We got LAN cables run and they look nice and tidy when you know to look for them.  And I am even getting artwork on the walls.  THe couches are great for lounging with friends too!   ANd we may even get trick or treaters-- who knows?

We are considering a new cable package we found out about, that is a few basic channels for $15 a month, and it includes all the PBS channels I like that never come in over the air even with the digital converter box.  Cable did not have this package when I went there a few weeks ago, I think they hid this package while the students were flodding into town, expecting their parents to spring for the fancier expensive deals.  But a friend who has a friend who works there said I can get the deal if I go in, and I might not need to rent a box for it. Next month I might do that if it checks out like said. I miss Nova, and Heroes is coming back soon!

2) CATS

Cats are both much happier now.  Tippy has really settled in, and plays with me often. SHe is very friendly,a ffectionalte, has new favorite places, and is a great companion,  Except for her problems eating crunchy food, she seems quite healthy too. I am getting some toys for her, since she never gets out enough to explore the cat tree Fry plays on.   She stays most of the time in m y bedroom, but she wants to explore the house when Fry doesn't block the hallway.  He still annoys the crud out of her.

Fry was a problem kitty for a while, deliberately misbehaving.  Ruth finally figured out that he was bored to tears, since he was better when we had company over.  So now we take several breaks during the day to play with him, and the acting out behaviors have stopped, and he is much more his old self.  He never gets enough RedBug though--- he is really like a jonesing meth addict, he will sit at my feet for an hour waiting for me to bring the laser pointer out again!   I also got him a few new toys, and he likes them too, but mainly when we play with them with him.   In a way I feel bad, and think he should be a store cat-- he simply cant get enough of strangers of all kinds visiting and of tasks and errands being done where he can trot along and watch.  But he still spends a fair amount of time out cold sleeping in very odd shaped piles of fur.   He is very huge, very fluffly, very friendly, and very cute.

Both cats have been having more problems with hair. I have tried several remedies, recommended by the vet no less as being so tasty cats would lick it off our very fingers.   Of course, elder and yougner both refuse them all.  They got to shaking the paste off their paws, so I tried putting it on their sides so they would groom it off. No luck-- Tippy wiped it off on my bed, and Fry had it matte his hair into a solid resiny mass that had to be cut off so he has a bald spot.   TIme to call the vet again for a different idea.  And Ruth thinks we can also get a pot of Cat Grass for them to nibble on.

3)  HEALTH

It was a hard slog this past year, but I am really recovering now.  I am eating better, doing more work, and playing more too.  I love getting out more and having more social interaction, something my friends, counselor, doctor, and MOM all told me to do, even if it means using energy on that instead of unpacking the house.  Yet while I do have to manage my energy and rest a lot, I am also feeling happier and more energized than I have in it seems like years!

I am having a bit of a mid-life crisis, not so much for my birthday this week, but more for just changes in m y life and going through so many tangible reminders of the phases of my life.  Ruth told me I couldn't have a mid-life crisis without a red sports car, so when grocery shopping I picked one up. It came with mag wheels, spoilers, and candy inside. Its on my entertainment center in the living room :)  I will figure out things eventually and a couple of weeks of introspective slight depression I said to hell with it, and I'm just moving on and having fun settling into my new life.

4)  WoW

I haven't played as much of late. I was off for a month during the move, and now I am gearing up into more energized and outgoing real life. But I do enjoy some play time every evening or two, and am pleased with my characters progression into End Game Content and my friendly Guildies.  I don't get as much gear as I want or do as many runs as I want, since I usually log on after real life stuff./visiting and a rest.  But I enjoy it nonetheless, and in a bit will set aside an evening to meet with my guildies for the end game group-based content I really want to do.  I will get some pics later, when I have enough of my sit-down restful work tasks aranged and can do fun stuff again.    Lyrahart is really getting a good makeover in look, and gear, and achievements. I also started a low-level Tauren Druid (named Hoovian) and play around with him too sometimes.   I think I would have gone insane during my illnesses this past year (esp past month) if I didn't have WoW to occupy me and give me social opportunities and challenges to enjoy when too ill to go out in real life.

Well, thats it for now!  I will post more pics shortly, including the house (as its unpacked and arranged), and of course, pics of the cats!
