Luck of the Draw

I've gone 35+ years without any injury that required stitches. The baby made it less than 10 months. That's how it goes, I guess. Either that, or we're terrible parents. It's definitely 1 of the 2. He fell onto a toy cow yesterday with pointy horns. One of the horns gave him a cut on his cheek, which required 1 stitch. Well, chicks dig scars ( Read more... )

Oh dear! First injuries are so traumatic (for the parents, I mean). I'm courting doom by even thinking about it, but am one of the least hovery parents I know, and thus far none of the clones have had an ER visit. So, I would chalk it up to chance and "that's how it goes."

No, it was a toy from day care. The cow has been sacked.

But I like LittleTorque!

I'm glad he's showing a good attitude to injury, namely ignoring it. ;-)

izmirian suggests GyroscopicTorque and StartingTorque. :-)

I like Startingtorque. That's definitely better than Littletorque.

StartingTorque does have the same nice flow to it that littletorque had. Maxiumtorque has too many syllables.

Maybe if it was abbreviated to MaxTorque?

All in all it sounds like it wasn't too bad.
S. needed stitches after she hit her head on the counter. It was super traumatic for her (she was 18 mo I think) I remember it was horrible having to hold her still. And she managed to pull out one of the stitches (out of 2 I think) within a few hours of being home. (she did not keep the band aid on.)
She was traumatized by getting stitches for two years after. But she doesn't really have a noticeable scar anymore.

I would say in the scheme of things you are doing quite well! I bet it will heal up without much of a scar at all. If it had been anywhere else, they probably wouldn't have stitched it at all. They do stitches to the face more often so you won't have a scar.

It doesn't reflect on your parenting at all - accidents happen and you don't want to be over protective either.
