For some reason, even though it's the fic comm that gets all the traffic in this particular fandom, I don't post anything there because you have to use the fan rating system.
I think the fan rating system is obnoxious to begin with, but I'm just resistant to new acronyms that I haven't been exposed to since I started watching television and movies. My thing is, why do you want to over complicate things? Because if you give me a rating and I can't figure out what to expect right off the bat, I'm automatically turned off. I admit, I'm mostly looking for teh pr0n. Why can't people rating: Porn? Because sometimes that M does mean VIOLENCEVIOLENCEVIOLENCE and I don't like VIOLENCEVIOLENCEVIOLENCE. This is why I don't like Quentin Tarantino flicks. I like my vampires and my werewolves sexy more so than violent.
And also, if anyone ever confesses to me that they committed a murder? I am calling the cops. This woman interviewed in Vampire Secrets on the History Channel was lured into the woods by a source while writing a book or an article on vampirism in modern cultures, and this "vampire" she interviewed told her about all these murders he and his partner committed. She believes the murders occurred, and she won't tell anyone even where she met the "vampire."
Seriously? If I had gone into journalism and a source did tell me that s/he committed a murder? I would be thinking, "That person s/he killed has a parent or a family member or friend who misses her/him." I'm telling the police every detail I know, that's what I would want.
